Week 4

Sunday, January 22, 2023
An uneventful day. I made another failed Apple Crisp. What's so difficult about this simple recipe? I know the ingredients. Perhaps I'll just make up my own recipe instead. I thought I'd be clever and add chopped pecans, but now I know that I need to add them about ten minutes before it's through baking.

Stormy heard the birds, so naturally she had to investigate.

Hooray! Got my eyes fixed today. I can't believe the difference. I had no idea they were that bad. Now that I can see the neglect, I must do lots of housekeeping.

I stopped at Cedars for shrimp on the way home.

Where I saw this sign, which looked like an ad from Brother Bill.

I had to head for home, because the rain was starting, with ice and snow expected to follow. Spent the afternoon on the couch, napping and watching TV with my new sight. Wow!

By the time I went to bed about 10:30, the snow was falling.

I got up to this. A Winter Wonderland. Usually the snow doesn't stick to the trees. A beautiful sight, except for the trash cans. Trash pickup delayed one day due to weather.

The streets had already been plowed, and by the end of the day, it was like this.

I was still having so much fun with my new eyes, I spent the day with the kitties, watching TV and reading.

I finished my book today. I liked it, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't a true-blue, 100% foodie.

I cooked a big pot of navy been soup, and then I tackled the kitchen. I had no idea how dirty my house had become until I could see again. How embarrassing.

And getting my eyes fixed aged me ten years. When I looked in the mirror, I was so much younger when I couldn't see all the wrinkles.

Today I worked on the kitty bathroom. Pepper is still trying to dig a tunnel through the bottom of the potty box, throwing litter everywhere. I don't know whether he's trying to escape or maybe just wants to see if we have a basement.

I turned my books in at the library and picked up Laptop from Hell.

A run to Aldi, and then I picked up a pizza at Little Caesar's, where it's either cheese or pepperoni. That's it. So good. I haven't had fast food all month.

I started reading the Laptop book while I had my coffee and peanut butter toast. Big mistake. I couldn't put it down. I read all day. Finished about 1:00 a.m. and then still didn't feel sleepy, so I finished The Murder Pit on my Kindle, which is my read in bed collection. By the same author as A Thread of Hope, Jeff Shelby. I really like this author, but I'm not spending money on Kindle books, when I already have over 1,800.

I knew the Bidens are corrupt, but I had no idea how badly we've been compromised. I think I know now why John Kerry needs to fly around in his jet all the time.

Barb called to tell me that Bud is having a triple bypass on Wednesday. She had called to tell me that's why he didn't bring my trashcan up to the garage door. What?! I gave Art a $50 gift card to Applebee's at Christmas because I thought he was doing it, and it was Bud all the time. And Art didn't tell me when he thanked me for the gift card. Amazing.

I was wondering what I'd do with all the rest of the bean soup, and Barb took it. Hooray! I have a new place to send overflow food.

I finally uploaded the Kansas City trip photos from my phone. Someday, I'll get the journal written.

I didn't accomplish much on my goals, but fixing my eyes was the best thing I've done in months.

Time to hit the reset button and get busy.
