A goof-off day. No check-marks on my list today. I picked up an old hardback, spiral-bound Betty Crocker cookbook, and the back cover fell off. It's a really old book, but instead of throwing it out, I cut out any recipes I felt I might use, cut out all the cute illustrations to use in cardmaking, and cut out envelopes from the whole-page photos of food. Would love to start making cards from them, but Valentines come first.

Yay! I had my checkup after having the film removed from my eyes, and I'm good to go. I don't need glasses for distance; only $ Tree readers for close up.
While I was out, I went to the bank and got my money market raised from 2.50 to 4.09. It's only for 90 days, but I think the Feds are considering another rate hike, so another Yay!
A stop at the post office for Valentine stamps. Not what I had in mind, but that's what they have. Stamps are now 60 cents.
Stops at the library to pick up The Mystery of Mrs. Christie, Aldi, gasoline, and Harter House; then home to eat and collapse. I need to eat smaller portions. Food makes me lazy.
I was moving things around in the refrigerator door, and a glass bottle of salad dressing slid out under the guardrail and landed smack on my left foot - right on the toe next to the big one. Wow! Talk about pain. But I discovered that my anti-bacterial cream with pain reliever I use for scratches and burns also works to deaden the pain from bumps.

Loving the Oat Bars. A smear of peanut butter and some sliced banana. Yum!
I found a new product from Tyson in the frozen foods at Harter House. Crispy finger sticks. I made a salad which I liked so much, I'm going to include it in the Everyday Salads book. Very versatile and somewhat spicy. I don't think kids would like it; hence the name.
YOUR WAY ADULT

Cut off the ends of the pepperoncini and press out the juice. Slit the side and remove the stem and seeds. Dice the remainder.
Scatter all the ingredients except the chicken and dressing over the salad greens.
Top with chicken. Drizzle with dressing or serve
dressing on the side.
My toe is all swollen and bruised, but hopefully nothing is broken. I don't think I could wear shoes. Rain today, so I wouldn't have gone out anyway. Get to those valentines. I need a craft room.
When I fed the outdoor kitties, Stormy ran outside and took off. It was drizzly, so I knew she wouldn't stay long. I went about my chores, and soon she was crying like crazy at the door. Before I could even open it all the way, she slipped inside and headed for the potty box. She really needed to go. She was just outside, the day was warm though damp, and the ground isn't frozen. She's just partial to indoor plumbing now. Cats!

I watched a really cute movie today. It's called I Feel Pretty. No profanity, not filmed in the dark, funny and cute, and with a great lesson about being yourself. I had to go to a G rated movie to find one I could actually enjoy.

Making Valentines, frantically making Valentines. Got my out of state ones in the mail.
Cooked a pork steak and fried rice.

I finished my Valentines and took them to the post office.
Stopped at Wendy's for a small double burger combo. I took the second hamburger patty off and took some bits off for Pepper and Stormy. I wrapped the balance to give them little treat bits for the next couple of days. My first fast food of the month.
Then I decided to make a few more Valentines to get a jump on next year.

Granny's birthday. Time to eat a breakfast with biscuits. Actually one biscuit sliced into thirds, buttered, and toasted.
I went to a class at the library to make a little book. False advertising. It was a little scene inside a metal box, a little larger than an Altoids box. They were really cute, with lots of little goodies to choose from, but I didn't stay. A lady on the wait list came to see if someone didn't show, so I gave her my place.
Here's the sample
While I was there, I picked up Sarah Huckabee Sanders book Speaking for Myself, and I also bought a cookbook for 50 cents (bad girl).
I started Sarah's book, and didn't want to put it down.

Hurry, hurry. I colored my hair and made potato-corn chowder in time to meet Mim and Fannie Mae at Hemingway's for lunch. It was a lovely sunny day, though still a little nippy. I told God that he did good, and he said, "Thank you." We all chose the brunch, which was a combination of breakfast and lunch.
I love the ambiance. Watching the fish swim lazily back and forth is very soothing.
All in all, a good week.
