Thank you

I thought my last blog post was boring, but I heard from several of you that you love hearing about what I'm doing. That put a huge smile on my face, so here you go -

Monday
Blog post
Month-end bookkeeping
Reconciled checking account statement
Worked two hours in the yard
Took my yard waste to recycle (4 big bags full, hope I'm not pulling out daffodil leaves too early)

Tuesday:
Vacuumed the dining room, living room, family room
Worked in the screened patio, putting hoses back in the yard, sweeping out, moving things around, still need to wash everything down, then touch up the painted furniture
Screenmobile came to measure for a new screen door for the indoor patio
Made out the grocery list for Sunday
Went to Aldi and Walmart for food to start advance prep

Wednesday:
My days look so wimpy, so I thought I'd write it all today, not just the highlights.
Made the bed
Fed indoor cats
Emptied the dishwasher
No outdoor cats - cleaned up spilled food from last night
Washed cat dishes
Scraped the potty box
Put money out for Brendan (mower guy)
Paid two bills which came yesterday
Answered emails
Scraped the potty box
Made coffee
Washed coffeemaker
Did a load of laundry
Shook the throw rugs into trash can in garage
Washed the throw rugs and spread them to dry in the laundryroom
Ate peanut butter toast. If you haven't tried this bread from Aldi, please do. They have Graintastic and Seedtastic.

Cut up two rotisserie chickens. Easier when warm, but too tired last night     after I got home and still had to feed cats and myself. Measured 2-cup bags   for casseroles and froze them, put some in fridge for salad and cat treats,   froze balance.
Made more Linda cake spice.
Made a cake with a tablespoon of cake spice added to a yellow cake mix.
Put bones and skin (plus a saved carcass from the freezer) on to simmer for   broth.
Vacuumed laundry room floor and spot mopped. (It's right next to the kitty   bathroom.)
Ate a Stouffer meatloaf and mashed potatoes. It's a perfect 3-block meal for   the Zone diet, but I ruined it by adding raw carrots, drizzled with ranch   dressing.

Not the greatest meal I ever ate, but it worked.

Sorted my seeds. Don't know if I can accomplish anything at this late date,       but  I'm going to try if the rain ever stops.
Garage door man came. Replaced the wall button. Remote, mirror in the car   button, and outside keypad worked fine, but the wall button by the door gave   up. Opener is original from when house was built, so no complaints. $110.
Frosted the cake for the freezer.
Took out 1 cup of broth to make jambalaya and had 3 qts to freeze.

Bones, etc. so I can take off the remaining bits and skin for the feral kitties; a very tedious job, as there are lots of tiny bones in a chicken.

Brought in the junk mail.
Scraped the potty box.
Called Terri.

Freddie showed up for dinner. He always seems to know when there's chicken, his favorite. He ate a big plateful and left; came back later and ate more.

Took to the couch and watched a stupid movie and ate a corn on the cob I   cooked in the microwave and a chicken sandwich. So tired I didn't wash the   broth pot - just put it to soak.

Leg is better.

Thursday:
I vacuumed my bedroom, bath, and breakfast area. Swept the kitchen, but will wait until after I do food prep on Saturday to mop and put down the clean rugs. Messy cook.

Does this happen to your vacuum?

I guess it's because my vacuum is really good or because my carpeting is really old. I first cut across the fibres and pull out what I can, then use this little brush I got from Temu.

It does the trick.

Took Elly to Ocean Zen for her birthday. Terri joined us. Terri had Pineapple Glazed Wok Chicken, and I had Macadamia Crusted Chicken with Garlic Mashed Potatoes. I didn't take photos. I thought I'd posted this before, but didn't, so these are from when we ate there in February. Elly had Mahi Tacos, but sorry, no photo.

Creme Brulee for Elly, compliments of the restaurant.

After lunch I ran errands; Michaels for paper pads. I had $15 in rewards money, and the pads are $10 each, so I bought two for $5 - $2.50 each. Wow! One for me, one for Joey. Such a deal! And it's cardstock - not paper.

I dropped a book off for Katie and picked up my cake pan, then on to HyVee to use my coupon for $15 off if I bought $55. Some of their prices are higher, so I have to watch what I buy, but the cat food and litter are almost the same as Walmart, so I can always make my goal. I bought two of these begonias for $5.99 each. I thought that was reasonable, but I have to do something about this pot. I'm allergic to gray, you know. And I don't need the hanger part. I'll put the other one on the front porch.

Friday:
I stripped the bed, and did laundry. I don't change sheets. I just wash them, put them back on the bed and no sheet folding. When these wear out, I'll go to the next set. Repeat. I haven't folded sheets in years.

Met Rita for lunch at Golden Corral, then gave myself the afternoon off for TV and naps. Dead tired.

Saturday:
Finished vacuuming the carpets.
Cleaned bathrooms.
Made a Crunchy Chicken Casserole and packed it for leftovers. This is the   one with rice in it.
Everything prepped to make another tomorrow.

Made a double-sized Cranberry Salad (Jello).
Made Jambalaya Packs and ate one for lunch, froze the others.
Ironed the tablecloth (ugh! hate ironing); set the table. After lunch, these dishes and the centerpiece can be discarded. I only have what you see, plus cups and saucers. Tulips on the dishes are actually peach, but look pink in the photos.

"Kids" coming tomorrow for lunch; Crunchy Chicken Casserole, Cranberry Salad, Steamed Green Beans, Buttered Corn, Parmesan Puffs, Olives and Pickles. They're bringing iced tea and dessert.

Parmesan Puffs

Swept and mopped the kitchen. Put down the clean rugs.
Cleaned the glass-topped tables: 1 in entry, 3 in living room, 1 in family room,   2 in my bedroom. Guess I must love glass tops.
Colored my hair.

Sunday
We had a lovely day, missing our brother Sonny as it was his birthday. Will brought a Red Velvet Cake for dessert.

I didn't win even one game of Chickenfoot - guess I need more practice. Pepper was under the table, and suddenly lashed out and scratched my right foot - the one which had all the swelling from the bite on my leg. I had on nylons, and the blood immediately soaked through and spurted all over the carpet. I guess he hit a vein. Christy and Bill cleaned it up like new. I'll never have any carpet other than Stainmaster. After the initial gush, it quit bleeding, and now I just have a bruise. I think he's trying to cripple me. He and Stormy like me to sit on the couch and watch them sleep.

Gathered the trash - can to the curb for pickup in the morning.

A few dishes to wash which don't go in the dishwasher. Going to bed early and read.

Hope you had a lovely week.
