The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Bad
In my last post, I told you about the termite situation. While working in the garage, neighbor Jeremy came over to talk to me about the mosquito buckets our subdivision is encouraging we buy. I mentioned the termites.

The Good
He has a friend in the business. Pest-Tech Services came and did a perimeter treament (just like Cambell did in 2018), and no drilling required. I was on a roll though, and continued the book purge. The world cookbooks survived. They fit perfectly in the dressing room shelves.

Some More Good
DIL Kathy came to visit. She arrived on Wednesday, May 21, at 11:38 p.m., though her scheduled arrival time was 6:45 p.m. Both legs of her flight delayed.

Thursday Terri joined us and we went to Dogwood Canyon. I'd been there before the flood, so the mill and museum were new to me. The tram tour guide was entertaining, as well as knowledgeable, and acted as excited about seeing everything as if it were his first time.

The museum is not large. I think it's overflow from Top of the Rock. I didn't take photos, as more experienced photographers than I have already handled that job. Click Here.

On Friday we went to the Halltown cemetery to take flowers for the graves, then to one of the used food stores. That's what my girls (Kathy and Terri) call the grocery outlets. We went to the one on West Kearney. Click Here, then lunch at Golden Corral.

We started watching a four-season series of Lark Rise to Candleford. Lark Rise is a small village of poor people, and Candleford is a small town of the more affluent. The story is about the interaction of the residents, and the time is probably sometime in the last half of the 1800's. Very entertaining. You can view the first three seasons free on Roku or Tubi. Final season is not free and fewer episodes.

Saturday was another used food store; this one in Ozark, Click Here, and lunch at El Puente in Nixa (my favorite Mexican restaurant,) then home to watch more Lark Rise.

Sunday we went to Asian King buffet, aka "The Green Bean Place." Kathy loves their green beans, and I love the little cups of ice cream with the pull-tab tops. We explored Gabes. I hadn't been there for awhile, and it seems to be all about clothes now. I bought a white jacket which I love. Home for more Lark Rise.

Monday we went to Thai Gardens. I posted photos of our food in January. This time I ordered the same, but we added an appetizer platter. How cute is this?

Home for more Lark Rise.

Tuesday Kathy and Terri went to Baker Creek Seeds, and I stayed home and got a little work and laundry accomplished. Lots more Lark Rise.

Wednesday Kathy went home to California. Same song, second verse. She was supposed to land in CA around 3:45 pm. She sent me an email that she was still at the airport, awaiting the shuttle to take her to her car, and it was around 11:45 p.m. Both legs of both flights had major delays. She is not happy with American Airlines.

The Ugly
After Kathy left, Pepper was asleep at my feet in front of the couch. I reached for a pen on the coffee table and nudged him with my foot. Being feral for several years made him weird. He thought he was being attacked, so he counter-attacked and bit my leg.

Thursday I had an appointment to take my hazardous household waste into Springfield, so I went, even though I should have stayed on the couch. You can only get appointments for Tuesday morning or Thursday afternoon, and I already had the box in my trunk.

I took these photos on Friday.

It even hurt to walk, and I spent most of the day on the couch. I was really tired anyway, so napped off and on.

Saturday it looked better.

But it still hurt to walk, and when I was up for awhile it would swell and turn red again, but not like the day before.

I spent most of the day with my foot elevated to keep the swelling down; kept applying antibacterial cream. It has pain reliever - a major help.

Sunday I worked inside and out (the weeds don't wait - OMG.)

Today I'm just slightly swollen and ready to rip. Now you know why I've been absent, and will be while I play catch up.

Pretty boring post, but now you know my story.
