Okay for Democrats to watch from here on.
On Saturday, Elly, Joyce, Terri, and I went to the Salad Buffet at the museum in Clinton. It's held every year as a fundraiser. After lunch, there's a presentation about fashion. This year's topic was Feedsack clothes. There's also a silent auction set up in the main library entrance each year, and I bid on a spice rack. The only problem is that the auction doesn't end until the Saturday after the lunch, so if you win, it means another trip back to collect your treasure.
There were 8-1/2 tables of eight each, so sixty-eight attendees. Nice turnout. The theme was chickens as Clinton is the Baby Chick Capital of the United States - sending out (by train) 110 million little cheepers each year. Guess it wasn't practical to hatch your own and, I assume, still isn't.
Each table had a different centerpiece with chickens and hen-and-chickens succulents.
Each place setting had a strawberry cookie, a mini-cheesecake, and a Lindor truffle.
Papas babysitting the kids.
There were twelve salads
The food is always delicious and the presentation enjoyable. We were lucky to have Brenda as the hostess at our table. She's been volunteering since 2009, and knows all the answers.
Clinton is an easy 90-mile drive north of Springfield. We missed the spring tea, as Terri and I were on a bus, returning from the Pella tulip festival the day of the tea. I hope we don't have a conflict next year, as we love the Ladies of Clinton and the Henry County Museum. Always a great experience.
The museum link is HERE. They're open April through December, and if you call 660-885-8414 and request a newsletter, they'll email one to you, showing the events which are scheduled for the balance of 2023, and then you'll receive a Spring, 2024 by email next year to see what's upcoming for the season. There's always a Spring tea and a late Summer salad buffet.
If you go to the website, you'll see why I love this museum. There are lots of photos so you can see why you should visit. Tell all your friends. Everyone I've introduced to this place came away with high praises. Plan your trip. Life is short - have some fun.
I seem to have lost the purpose of this blog. I meant it to be my daily journal of my life because I don't like to write and then have physical journals to store. I love showing you places you might not have discovered, but I need to get back on purpose. Future posts will be boring, but if you continue reading, I hope you can sift through and find some things you find worthwhile.
